Sue Smith Glass

Now based in the beautiful rural countryside of Devon, England, I’ve lived and worked in several countries where I was deeply inspired by intricate architecture, rich cultural traditions, and the vibrant colours and textures of the landscapes. These global influences continue to shape and inform my creative practice today.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world around me. A deep connection to nature and the environment runs through everything I do — from the materials I choose to the forms and colours I explore.

Since developing my unique glass mosaic technique in 2003, I’ve continued to refine and share it with students across the UK and internationally. My mosaics use stained glass, arranged directly onto mirrors to create pieces that shimmer with depth and movement.

As the light shifts throughout the day, each mosaic subtly changes in mood and colour, making it feel alive and constantly in conversation with its surroundings.
